Mattress Wedge Reviews: All you need to know before buying
I got my Mattress Wedge as a gift from a friend, and it really did wonders for me. You see, my bed isn’t very firm (I should invest in a good bed, I know!) and since I like to sit with my back against the headboard when I watch TV or do some reading before drifting off to sleep, I always end up with my pillow sliding below my mattress.
It’s the same thing when I’m sleeping. Most often than not, my pillows just won’t stay in the same spot. As a result, I wake up with a sore neck as if I didn’t use any pillow at all.
Benefits of the Mattress Wedge
Now that I have the Mattress Wedge, I no longer have these problems. If you’re thinking of buying one but want to ask does the Mattress Wedge really work, let me tell you that it does – absolutely.
The side pockets are even helpful, because it gives you a handy place for the remote and any other gadgets you have.
Mattress Wedge Complaints
If you have done your homework and have read more than one Mattress Wedge review you have probably come across some testimonials from people who weren’t too happy about this product.
On websites like Amazon, for example, it has earned 43 five-star reviews, but there are still more than a handful of negative ones. So in the spirit of transparency and fairness, let’s take a closer look at each one and find out if these reviews are justified:
“It’s In the Wrong Size!”
This is probably the most common complaint for the Mattress Wedge. Some customers said that the item they got was very small, so it doesn’t stay securely in place. Of course, it can be annoying and I would understand why they’re upset about it. But seriously, couldn’t they have chosen a bigger size? How is that the fault of the manufacturer when a customer picks the wrong size?
One customer even said that it worked properly, but gave it only a 4-star rating because he picked the wrong size and now there’s an annoying overhang on the sides of the bed. But surely it’s not that annoying compared to having the pillow slide down night after night, right?
So if there’s something that can be gleaned from this, it’s that you should really get the correct size. Measure the space and then note down the size of the wedge and see if it’s the right size. That’s the only way you can get the benefits of the Mattress Wedge.
“It’s Too Expensive!”
In my opinion, this is one of the most surprising complaints. Quite a few have said that it is overpriced, but surprisingly some of the reviewers who actually said this were among those who said that it worked exactly as advertised.
Now on the face of it this complaint does make some sense. It’s just a triangular type of wedge, after all and its design is so simple. So why pay $19.95 for two sets of wedges, complete with a pillow case and two side pockets for each wedge?
The answer is obvious. It’s because for many of us, we consider the cost and then try to put a dollar value on solving a problem. So for a customer, the annoyance of having to put up with pillows falling down the crevice between the bed and headboard is worth the expense.
Perhaps some of them are feeling buyer’s remorse. But surely complaining about the price doesn’t make sense, because the total cost was all spelled out right from the beginning.
You get 2 Twin Set wedges with 2 pillow cases and 4 side pockets, and it will cost you $19.95. For the Full and Queen Size Set, it’s $38.90 and for the King Size it’s going to cost $48.90.
If these prices are too high for you, then you simply shouldn’t buy it. It’s that simple! Pricing is all about supply and demand.
A diamond ring costs a fortune not because it’s shiny and hard, but because it’s tradition to buy one when proposing to your lady love. A wedding dress is also expensive, especially for something that’s only worn once, yet women still buy them.
Lamborghinis sell for obscene amounts of money, and they do the same job of transporting you to the supermarket as a used Toyota sedan.
If you think it’s worth the price, then buy it. If not, don’t buy it.
One reviewer did say that he found it on sale at Wal-Mart’s “As Seen on TV” section for $15. Good for him. But the same rule of supply and demand applies when you buy the Mattress Wedge in stores. He said he got the last one, so now people in his area have no choice but to buy it online.
“It Takes Too Long to Reach Full Size.”
The one thing you need to know about this foam is that it’s tightly packed, so when you unpack it the air slowly seeps in until it reaches its full size. That’s just the way it is. It’s physics. Now I understand that the packaging says you need 12 hours and it can take longer than that. You just need to set the proper expectations so you don’t get frustrated waiting for it to reach full size.
Is It Worth Buying?
For those reading Mattress Wedge reviews out there, there’s really not much to think about. If you’re having a hard time sleeping or staying comfortable in bed because of your pillows sliding down or because your mattress is not even, then buying this product is a no-brainer.
Some might say the product did not work for them but it works for me, and 60 reviewers who gave it 4 or 5 stars say the same thing. If you want to have a good night’s sleep, the Mattress Wedge may just be what you need.
